Preliminary Task - editing process

Firstly, I imported in the interview footage, which had been cut down to suit the length of this task.

After adding the interview footage I wanted, I added two photos of me with Chris Lloyd, along with a photo of where Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue is based, to add some context. I then added some text onto the screen, being Chris Lloyd's name and his role, when he firsts starts talking, again to add context and express the interviewee's significance in the topic being focused on.

I felt that having just the interview footage on screen would be tedious for the audience. To solve this issue I imported drone footage of Welsh mountains, which will be very similar to the drone footage that I will film myself for my main documentary task. Along with this I also added footage taken from England and Wales Mountain Rescue's website of them doing callouts. Doing this I found made the production a lot more thrilling and focused on the issue being expressed.

To add some creativity to this task, I imported a voice recording of myself talking briefly about who Chris Lloyd is and his role. I also included a recording of myself at the end talking about the issue. The aim of this was to add context and repeat the overall theme of this preliminary task. An issue I found was that the production felt slighty novice as there was no background music, reducing the excitement and power of the production. To resolve this, I exported the music from the same video I used for the mountain drone footage in this task, as it came across as subtle yet powerful. Some other edits I made were including the stats of how many callouts England and Wales Mountain Rescue have responded to in 2024, to increase it's significance. Finally, I included a final slide of the mountain rescue logo, to give the production a professional finish and again express the theme of the production.
