Planning - Initial magazine front cover ideas
This is my initial idea of what my magazine front cover may look like. The strapline I chose to be ‘Train hard. Eat hard. Sleep hard’. I feel this is catchy and the repetition of hard gives the strapline power. I would look to make the strapline bold by using my knowledge of colour and fonts. For the masthead, I chose the name ‘One more rep’. I am aware lots of fitness magazines tend to follow similar direction when adding features to their front cover. It would be a san serif font as it signifies modernism and simplicity and in a royal blue colour, which symbolises trust, strength and independence. Although I have followed some direction, I wanted to be different with arguably one of the most powerful parts of a magazine front cover. I put the model in the centre of the front cover, however I will make him bigger to make it a more powerful aspect. This may result in me reconsidering the presentation of the masthead. My mise en scene will be a plain white background, which is similar to lots of fitness magazines. This will make the model increasingly more powerful, along with the masthead and coverlines. For the coverlines, I chose topics that would appeal for my target audience. I also linked the ‘page numbers’ to where the readers can find the topic. I am choosing to price my magazine at £5.99 being a magazine published every 2 months.
